Rs 1,74,000 crore allocated for Bharat Nirman till 2009
Davanagere, Karnataka, Mar 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajasekharan today said Rs 1,74,000 crore has been earmarked for implementing Bharat Nirman programmes by 2009.
Addressing a five-day public information campaign on the concluding day, organised by the Press Information Bureau at Harihara, about 15 km from here, he said the Centre was implementing many schemes for the uplift of the downtrodden people.
Mr Rajasekharan announced that all the districts in the country would be brought under the ambit of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
He opined that public awareness would only check corruption and media had a key role to play to highlight it.
