Mexican tourists' bail rejected
Barrackpore, Mar 28 (UNI) The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court today denied bail to Mexican tourist Febles Ortiz Eduardo Antonio, who was arrested from Kolkata Airport on March 21, and extended his judicial remand till April 11.
A bail petition on behalf of the accused was moved before Additional Judicial Magistrate Gopal Chandra Karmakar here at the sub-divisional court by Advocate Krishnendu Sarkar when the case was produced before the court.
Antonio(47) was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the pilot of Indian IC-854 following an emergency landing at Kolkata Airport. Antonio had allegedly threatened a co-passenger on board, en-route to Delhi from Bangkok, that he would blow the aircraft by bombs kept under his seat.
The incident had happened under drunken condition, Antonio said, and pleaded for his bail.
However, a case was registered against the accused under Section 3(D)(A) of the suppression of unlawful activities against the safety of Civil Aviation Act alongwith Sections 506, 507 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.
