Mamata questions Buddha action after owning responsibility
Kolkata, Mar 28 (UNI) Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee today asked West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee what was his next step after taking responsibility for the Nandigram carnage.
Mr Bhattacharjee has taken the responsibility for police firing on the villagers at Nandigram on March 14, but he couldn't tender his resignation.
''If Mr Bhattacharjee had social obligation and moral compulsion towards the people he should have done so,'' Ms Banerjee told in the party's rally at Esplanade here.
She said the people of the state had no trust in Mr Bhattacharjee and Singur land acquisition and Nandigram land acquisition bid were covered in 'lies and shame'.
What was the need for administrative inquiry when Hon'ble high court ordered the CBI inquiry, she questioned stating that it was a ploy to take the focus away from truth.
She also said it was a non-political movement against the government and punishment should be given to those who confessed the crime.
The party also decided to organise ''torch light procession'' in every block of the state on March 31, she said.
At least 14 people were killed and over 70 injured in police firing in Nadigram on March 14.
