Varanasi, Mar 28: Reiterating that former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh was the chief ministerial choice of all Hindus, VHP president Ashok Singhal today said, ''No one in BJP can even dare to replace Kalyan with anybody else in the post poll scenario.'' Addressing Mediapersons here, Mr Singhal compared the former UP chief minister with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said the Hindutva credentials of Mr Singh were undisputed.

''While Mr Vajpayee lacked the guts to sacrifice his government for the cause of Hindutva and Ram temple, Mr Singh, the UP CM at the time of demolition of Babri mosque at Ayodhya did not hesitate in sacrificing his post for the cause of Hindutva,'' Mr Singhal maintained.

Recounting his conversation with Mr Singh just before the 1992 Ayodhya demolition, Mr Singhal said, ''unhone kaha tha sarkaren aati jaati rehti hain aap chinta mat kariye aur ram ke karya mein aage badhiye (he said governments come and go.... do not worry and go ahead with the service to Lord Ram).

''We are sure that if Mr Singh becomes the next Chief Minister in UP, the cause of Hindutva will not only be safe, but prosper in his hands,'' Mr Singhal added.

The saffron leader, reiterating his resolve to build a forum of Hindu voters to prevent the disintegration of Hindu votes, said, ''we make an appeal to Hindus in UP not to vote on party line, but to exercise their franchise in support of those candidates who swear by the cause of Hindutva, Ram temple construction, ban on cow slaughter and protection of Ram Setu (undersea bridge at Rameshwaram).'' A signature campaign will soon be initiated by the VHP across UP, where all the political outfits as well as candidates in electoral fray will be asked to swear by the cause of Hindutva, Ram Setu, Ram temple, ban on cow slaughter, prevention of any attempts by secular forces to construct a mosque anywhere within the cultural limits of Ayodhya, Mr Singhal added.

Those who do not swear by these crucial and nationalist issues will then be termed as ''anti-Hindu'' and the Hindu voters will be appealed to vote against them and support only pro-Hindu candidates, he maintained.

Taking a dig at the secular forces, Mr Singhal alleged that all secular parties were conspiring to build a mosque at Ayodhya to convert the birthplace of Lord Ram into 'Khurda Mecca'.

''Even the opposition to the Ram temple movement is the reason behind the awful state of Congress in UP,'' he alleged.

''We will stall the construction of any mosque at Ayodhya and are ready to shed our blood for this cause. We are prepared to replicate the sacrifice of farmers in Nandigram to prevent Ayodhya from turning into a 'Khurda Mecca'.'' Denying he had made any efforts to cut the ice between the BJP and firebrand Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath, Mr Singhal said, ''No political party should feel sure about VHP support for it at the hustings. We will support the best bet among all pro-Hindu candidates in the assembly poll.''
