Jet passengers have close shave

Kolkata, Mar 28 (UNI) Passengers of a Jet Airways aircraft had a close shave after its rear wheel caught fire on landing at the NSCBI Airport here today.

The Imphal-Guwahati-Kolkata flight landed at the airport at 1715 hours and one of its rear wheels immediately burst into flames.

The flight 9W616 with 103 passengers, however, landed safely.

Airlines and Airport officials said that the fire was extinguished with the help of fire coolers. The fire engines also rushed to the spot.

Airlines officials explained that the smoke and the fire resulted from maximum heat when the wheels touched the runway, a frequent incident during summer.
