Constable kills self in Chhattisgarh

Durg, Chhattisgarh, Mar 28 (UNI) A 46-year-old Special Armed Force constable has committed suicide by firing his AK-47 service rifle at the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Police Station here.

Furnishing details of last evening's incident, City Superintendent of Police Shivlal Salam said, ''Constable Jhaggar Lal Verma hailed from this district's Gondmarra village.'' The constable was allegedly upset over not being granted leave.

Certain family matters were also vexing him over the past few days and he yesterday asked his wife to come here. At the time of the suicide, Constable Verma's wife was discussing his leave application with the commandant.
