Central govt allocates Rs 15,97,20,000 under IAY

Agartala, Mar 28: The Centre has finally approved financial aid to families affected by border fencing in Tripura under the Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) project.

The state government has been continally pressurising the Union government for financial aid for the affected families in the state's four districts, along the Indo-Bangladesh border, and had sent proposals in this regard, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar informed in the State Assembly.

The centre has allocated Rs 15,97,20,000 for construction of houses for 7,744 families, belonging to below poverty line(BPL), in the state.

In its first phase, the Union Government released an amount of Rs 7,98,60,000 for this purpose.

The allocated amount is in addition to the IAY quota, Mr Sarkar said in reply to the question of CPI(M) MLA Samir Debsarkar.
