Shillong, Mar 28: The BSF has decided to provide full-proof security to the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) workers engaged in Indo-Bangla border fencing as the 72-hour 'quit notice' to the workers in Meghalaya ended here today.

BSF Inspector General, in-charge of Asom-Meghalaya frontier, P K Mishra said security had been provided to all the NBCC workers in view of the 'quit notice' served by the Coordination Committee on International Border (CCIB).

Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Frederick Roy Kharkongor said the state police would provide security to the NBCC office and its workers, once they leave the border.

''The quit notice was issued to NBCC last weak after they violated the government's notification which directed them to suspend fencing work in all the disputed areas between Nongjri in East Khasi Hills and Jaliakhola in Jaintia Hills,'' CCIB spokesman G H Kharshanlor told sources.

Mr Kharshanlor said the CCIB members would soon review the aftermath of the notice in the bordering areas.

Earlier, the NBCC has relocated its office from state's Jowai district, headquarters of Jaintia Hills, to Silchar in neighbouring Cachar district of Asom a month before the CCIB's ''quit notice''.
