BVS suggests Unit Test wise text books for school students
Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena (BVS), the student wing of Shiv Sena has come out with a novel idea to reduce the burden of school bags, for school children in Maharashtra.
It has mooted the idea of having Unit Test wise text books instead of subjects. BVS has also prepared such textbooks for Standard three and handed over a set to School Education Minister Vasant Purke today.
After the meeting, BVS president Abhijit Panse told reporters the minister lauded the effort and said Unit Test wise text books scheme would be implemented from the next academic year (2008-09).
Panse said the minister told the delegation that the government would set up a panel of experts to study the recommendation of the BVS before implementation from next year.
''BVS members would also be given representation in the panel,'' Panse quoted the minister as saying.
Publishing Unit Test wise books would ease the burden on the parents' pocket as they need not purchase text books of all six subjects at the commencement of the academic year. Besides, children need not carry all the six text books in their bags every day, he added.
