APSRTC registers Rs 79 crore profit in 2006-07

Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Reddy today said the corporation had registered a profit of Rs 78.99 crore in 2006-2007 as against a loss of Rs 200 crore during 2005-06.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Reddy said the APSRTC had earned profit after ten years as a result of productive improvement and rationalisation of manpower deployment on scientific lines.

It reduced its staff-bus ratio from 6:31 last year to 6:20.

He said the corporation was one among the lowest few bus-staff ratios in the country.

Announcing that internet booking facility would be introduced soon in the RTC, he said 1.25 crore passengers were transported through the RTC buses in the current financial year as against 1.16 crore during last year.

Stating that the average vehicle productivity had been improved by 12 kms during this year, Mr Reddy said the Occupancy Ratio (OR) was increased to 70 per cent this year from 65 per cent recorded last year.
