Hyderabad, Mar 28: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for sometime today as the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) stalled the proceedings demanding time for its leader N Chandrababu Naidu to speak.

After the TDP registered their party's protest over alleged corruption in the irrigation projects initiated by the Congress government, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, in return, alleged that Mr Naidu was politicising the Babli issue.

Following this, the TDP members, who were on their feet, urged Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to give a chance to Mr Naidu to air his point.

Quoting a ruling by a former Speaker, Mr Suresh Reddy maintained that Assembly procedure do not provide an opportunity to the Opposition to air views after staging a protest.

Only the government was entitled to make its stand clear after protest by the Opposition.

The TDP members, who refused to heed to the Speaker's plea to resume their seats, disrupted the proceedings for more than 15 minutes.

Following this, the Speaker adjourned the House for over 15 minutes.
