Ramnavami celebrated in Bihar
Patna, Mar 27 (UNI) Ramnavami, the birth day of Lord Rama, was celebrated across the state with religious fervour and gaiety today.
Devotees thronged the Hanuman Temple here since last night to offer prayers to Lord Rama. Temple management had made an elaborate arrangement on the ocassion of Ramnavami.
Drinking water was offered to the devotees, who had to wait for several hours under the scorching sun for their turn at the sanctum scantorum of the temple.
State Religious Board's Chairman Kishore Kunal said in order to cope with the heavy rush of the devotees, the temple management was utilising the services of the priests from Ayodhya.
A team of doctors and paramedical staffs had been deputed to provide medical assistance in case of emergeny near the temple, Mr Kunal added.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor R S Gavi have also greeted the people on the occasion.
Police said elaborate security arrangements had been made to prevent any untoward incident in the state. Police team had been deployed at important temples to ensure smooth celebration of the festival. Instruction had been issued to all district police superintendnts to maintain strict vigil during the festival, he added.
