ONGC to start deep drilling in Mizoram soon

Aizawl, Mar 27: The ONGC today announced to carry on deep drilling shortly in Mizoram.

Talking to media here today Vanlalzawma, Lok Sabha member from the state, said the state is literally floating on oil and is heading towards an economic boom.

Highlighting the latest development pertaining to oil exploration in the state, he said, ''Oil exploration will lead to great economic alleviation in Mizoram and we will certainly enter into a state of economic boom.'' '' Since our neighbouring countries and states have also huge reserves of oil, it is very urgent to explore oil in Mizoram, because there is the possibility of draining our oil reserve from the neighbouring oil wells,'' Mr Vanlalzawma stated.

According to Lallenmawia, an ONGC official, responsible for exploration work in the state, said huge oil reserves are being placed under category one by the Directorate of Hydrocarbons.

He added that it would get 12.5 per cent royalty from crude oil and 10 per cent from gas.

Besides, there would be 50-50 share between the state and Centre from the profit.
