Jet intros direct A'bad-London flight from Apr 3
Ahmedabad, Mar 27: To cater to the large Gujarati and NRI community residing in the United Kingdom, Jet Airways will introduce direct flight between Ahmedabad-London from April 3.
Mr Wolfgang ProckSchauer, CEO, Jet Airways, said ''As part of our expansion plans, we are pleased to announce the introduction of Airbus A330-200 flights between Ahmedabad and London Heathrow. We aim to tap the enormous potential of Gujarat, which has of late seen a spurt in investment as well as tourists inflow into the state.'' Talking to reporters Mr Prock Schauer said, ''To begin with, Jet Airways will operate two flights per week and will add an additional frequency from May 1 this year. As we add capacity, we will evaluate to increase the frequency to provide daily flights between Ahmedabad and London.'' At present, Jet Airways connects London Heathrow with twice daily flights from Mumbai, one daily flight from Delhi and six times a week from Amritsar.
The airlines as part of its inaugural offer, has introduced a special Economy class return airfare of Rs 22,000, exclusive of taxes. This special fare is valued for travel from April 3 to June 30. There is also an added incentive in the form of a 'Companion Free Offer' for travel in Premier Class valid for travel from April 3 to June 15.
The Jet Airways flight will operate from Ahmedabad on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while the flight from London Heathrow will be on Tuesdays and Sundays from April 3-30. Effective May 1 this year, an additional frequency will be added on this sector, on every Saturday, from Ahmedabad and on every Friday from London Heathrow.
The flight 9W 125 will depart from Ahmedabad at 1410 hours and arrive in London Heathrow at 1905 hours (local time). In the return direction, flight 9W 126 will depart from London Heathrow at 2235 hours (local time) and arrive in Ahmedabad at 1145 hours (local time) the next morning, Mr Prock Schauer said.
