Farmers gherao forest office

Mysore, Mar 27 (UNI) Farmers of various villages of Hanur forest area in neighbouring Chamarajanagar district today gheraoed the forest office at Hanur, demanding immediate steps to control wild elephants entering agricultural land and destroying the crops.

ACF K P Kumar assured them that necessary steps have been taken to prevent wild elephants from entering the lands by digging elephant trenches at various places on the bordering areas of forest.

The agitating farmers later withdrew their protest.
