Eviction process in Mysore sparks tension
Mysore, Mar 27 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time near the taxi stand in the heart of the city when the city Corporation authorities began eviction process in the area earmarked for a shopping complex.
About 40 owners and drivers of taxi, tempos and mini lorries along with former MLA A Ramadas were arrested when they prevented the Corporation officials from carrying on the eviction process.
However, they were released later.
Tension gripped the area as a large posse of policemen and Corporation workers came to the spot for the operation. The agitators insisted that they would not shift unless infrastructure was created at the new location. However, the Corporation had committed to give possession of land six months ago itself, Corporation Commissioner Dr Chandrashekhar said.
Later, the eviction operation was completed by the Corporation authorities.
