Combing operation launched, ultras kill two
Itanagar, Mar 27: The Army, police and para-military forces today launched a joint combing operation in Arunachal's Changlang district and Tinsukia in Asom after suspected NSCN(IM) cadres killed two persons at Namchik forest, one km from the inter-state check gate, yesterday.
Three private tankers carrying petrol, on their way to Kharsang, were attacked by the militants. The first tanker was attacked at around 0845 hrs injuring its handyman in the process, official sources said.
While the driver managed to speed away, the second tanker was attacked in which the driver was killed.
The ultras then immediately disappeared sparing the third tanker.
A case had been registered at Lekhapani police station in Tinsukia district, under whose jurisdiction the area falls, and the bodies were sent for post mortem.
Meanwhile, Changlang police conducted a meeting of the civil society during the day as a confidence building measure, sources added.
