Raipur, Mar 27: The BJP and its allies will form the government in Uttar Pradesh after the assembly elections, party President Rajnath Singh today said and ruled out the possibility of the party extending support to others.

He was replying to a question at a press conference here about Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati's statement that the BJP would end up supporting the Samajwadi Party after the elections.

''The BJP and its allies are fielding candidates to secure an absolute majority,'' he said, adding Janata Dal(U) and Apana Dal leaders would jointly campaign with the BJP in the elections.

''BJP veteran Kalyan Singh is the choice for the post of chief minister. Neither there is any dispute over leadership nor on any other issue,'' he said.

On Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's extensive election campaign in UP, the BJP President said it would not make any difference to the state's political scenario.

''Congress presence is insignificant in Uttar Pradesh. It will not be surprising if the Congress slips to fifth or sixth position after the elections,'' he added.

About Uttar Pradesh leaders threatening each other with imprisonment if their respective parties came to power, Mr Singh quipped ''We have nothing to do with it''.

''There is no allegation against BJP's candidate for chief ministership. Neither any CBI inquiry is pending against him,'' he added.
