Bank official arrested for taking bribe

Mumbai, Mar 27 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Manager of Allahabad Bank, posted at the Zonal Office here, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant.

The official demanded the bribe from the complainant for passing the final bill relating to civil and furnishing work carried out by his firm at one of the bank's Core Banking Solution (CBS) branch at Vashi, a release issued here today said.

The CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe. Searches were conducted at his office and residential premises which resulted in recovery of cash of Rs 1.2 lakh, fixed deposits of Rs 10.43 lakh and jewelleries, the release said.

The accused was produced in the local court here and remanded in the CBI custody for two days, the release added.
