Udupi mutt launches prog to beautify temple town

Udupi, Mar 26: To make the famous temple town of Udupi more beautiful, clean and attractive, a 8-point programme has been prepared by Sri Sugunendra Thirtha Swamiji of the Puttige mutt.

The Swamiji, who would be ascending the Paryaya peeta for conducting Sri Krishna pooja at the famous Sri Krishna temple for a two-year term early next year, said that modern technology would be incorporated to display the ''Vishwaroopa Darshan'' of the Lord at Geetha Mandir. Discussion in this regard had been held in with the technocrats from United States, he said.

The seer said special programmes had also been planned to maintain cleanliness of the temple surroundings. Besides, world religious conference there would be cultural and spiritual programmes at Udupi. Plans were afoot to dedicate a new pearl chariot to the presiding deity and a ''Vajra Kavacha'' to Lord Hanuman at Bhojana Shaala, the main mass dining venue of the temple, he added.
