Train collision because of 'failure of Railways'

The
January
24
collision
of
a
goods
train
with
two
trucks
at
a
manned
crossing
gate
between
Hatwar
and
Kishanganj
stations
of
Katihar
Division,
killing
one
person
and
injuring
four
others,
was
due
to
the
''failure
of
Railway'',
a
statutory
inquiry
has
revealed.
In
his
preliminary
report,
the
Commissioner
of
Railway
Safety,
Northeast
Frontier
Circle,
Kolkata
said
the
collision
of
the
goods
train
with
the
two
loaded
trucks
at
a
level
crossing
between
Hatwar
and
Kishanganj
stations
on
non-electrified
section
of
Katihar
Division
was
because
of
the
failure
of
the
Railway.
The
provisional
findings
of
the
Commissioner,
appended
with
a
preliminary
report,
were
submitted
to
the
Railway
Ministry
last
week.
As
a
result
of
the
accident,
five
people
were
injured,
one
of
whom
died
later.
One
was
injured
grievously
and
three
sustained
simple
injury.
