Mulayam, Amar Singh will be jailed: Mayawati

Mainpuri/Etah, Mar 26: BSP president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati announced to put present incumbent and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and SP general secretary Amar Singh behind bars, if her party forms the next government in the state. Addressing election meetings in Mainpuri and Etah districts, Ms Mayawati said a tacit understanding had been reached between BJP and SP to scuttle BSP's chances of government formation.

''Under the truck, BJP would support SP in UP, while SP would return the favour at the centre,'' she alleged.

However, she maintained if BSP rises to power, Mr Yadav and Mr Singh would be arrested and sent to jail. ''Other mafias and criminals in the present regime would be taken to task one-by-one.'' Ms Mayawati said the present archiac SP rule was on the verge of extinction. ''Mr Yadav and Mr Singh, who have remitted billions of rupees to foreign shores, would not be allowed to flee.'' ''They would be jailed and forced to account for their ill-gotten wealth.'' She reiterated her party was fighting the coming UP poll on her own. ''BSP is giving equal respect to upper castes, Dalits and backwards.'' ''I want to establish a government based on equity,'' she noted thanking the Election Commission for the allocation of central forces to conduct free and fair poll.
