Force feeding of Sharmila continues

Imphal, Mar 26: Irom Chanu Sharmila, who was on a fast until death against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958, continues to be on forced nasal feeding at Jawaharlal Nehru hospital here.

Shija Hospital and Research Institute officials here said a minor operation was conducted on Ms Sharmila yesterday to remove a small lump from her chin.

She was immediately discharged after the operation.

She came to the city on March 4 last from New Delhi where she was on a protest demanding the repeal of the Act since November 2000.
