101 cases of farmer suicides in ten months
Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 26: Kerala Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran today informed the Assembly that as many as 101 cases of debt-ridden farmers committing suicide were reported in the state after the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government came to power ten months back.
In a written reply, the Minister said the maximum number of 46 cases of suicides were reported from Wayanad district, followed by Kozhikode (11) and Thiruvananthapuram (ten).
Of the 14 districts in the state, no such deaths were reported during the period in Malappuram and Kannur districts.
