UPA govt effecting troop withdrawal: BJP

New Delhi, Mar 25: Accusing the UPA government of effecting an ''undeclared troops withdrawal'' from the boundary districts of Doda, Poonch, Rajouri in the Jammu region, the BJP today said it would jeopardise the security of the nation.

In a release here, the party said though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had ruled out withdrawal of troops from Jammu and Kashmir till peace was restored in the state, the UPA government bowed to PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's demands and pulled out troops from the border areas.

''This excercise (withdrawal of forces) started since last week as the stand-off between all ruling coalition partners in the state, the Congress and the PDP, threatened the stability of the Ghulam Nabi Azad government,'' the release said.

''We warn the UPA government that it should not indulge in compromising national security for political reasons,'' the BJP said, adding the recent violence in Poonch district was deliberately organised in which ''houses and vehicles of Hindus were attacked''.
