NTPC to generate 202,850 MUs power in 2007-08

New Delhi, Mar 25: NTPC Ltd aims to generate 202,850 Million units (MUs) of electricity in the financial year 2007-08.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed by Power Secretary Anil Razdan and NTPC CMD T Sankaralingam here yesteray.

The MoU includes targets of important milestones related to ongoing projects of the company viz Sipat-I, Sipat-II, Barh, Korba, Dadri-II, Farakka-III, Koldam Hydro Electric Power Project, Loharinag Pala Hydro Electric Power Project, Tapovan-Vishnugad Hydro Electric Power Project.

It also includes targets for coal mining activities.

In addition, total quality management, human resource development, business development activities including gas exploration, distributed generation, research and development and energy technology, project management certification, ash utilisation and environment measures are also part of the memorandum.

The company has achieved 'Excellent' rating under all MoUs signed with the government.

It plans to be a 75,000 MW plus company by 2017.
