JK: Haul of explosives recovered from airport

Jammu, Mar 25: Panic gripped Jammu airport last evening when an Indian Airlines passenger, on way to Leh, was arrested with 50 live cartridges.

Official sources said the security personnel deployed at the airport arrested the passenger, Sham Lal a resident of Udhampur, when he was about to board the Jammu-Leh flight.

''During examination, some suspected articles were detecied in his luggage. Police recovered 50 live cartages of .22 bore gun from his bag,'' an official said.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and interrogated, the police said, adding that Sham Lal revealed that one of his friends from Leh handed over the bag to him.

Police has registered an FIR.
