Raj: Rs 100 cr relief package for rain-hit farmers

Jaipur, Mar 24: Rajasthan government has announced a Rs 100 crore relief package for rain-hit farmers in addition to Rs 70 crore provided as interim relief.

Announcing the package at Vidhan Sabha yesterday, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said Rs 3,000 per hectare would be given to farmers for non-irrigated land. Rs 4000 per hectare has been sanctioned for those farmers who have irrigated lands and electricity connection.

Farmers who use diesel on irrigated lands have been sanctioned Rs 6,000 per hectare. They also have been waived off electricity bills for four months and woulde be given 50 kg grains and vegetables for a period of two months.

The government report said at least 2.86 lakh hectare land and three lakh farmers have been affected due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm.

Mrs Raje said farmers who work on contract would also be compensated and local committees are being formed to look into their cases.
