Kalam addresses TN assembly on May 10

Chennai, Mar 24: President A P J Abdul Kalam will address the Tamil Nadu Assembly on May 10 and offer felicitations to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on completing 50 years in the House.

The President gave his consent to address the House on a reqeust from the State Government, Speaker R Avudaiyappan told newspersons after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).

The BAC, which met here yesterday to finalise the agenda for the ongoing Budget session, decided that the session would go on till May 11 when the Legislators of various political parties would offer their felicitation to Mr Karunanidhi.

Mr Avudaiyappan said the debate on the Budget would commence on March 26 and Finance Minister K Anbazhagan, who presented the budget yesterday, would reply to the debate on March 30.

The House would take up the demand for grants for various departments from April 2, starting with Energy department.

The demand for grants for Agriculture would be taken up on April 3, Irrigation (April 4), School Education (April 10), Law (April 13), Police (April 20), Higher Education (May 2) and Industries (May 7).
