India, Nepal to arrest Gaur Massacre murderers

Kathmandu, Mar 24: Indian security officials have agreed to support, in capturing the murderers of Wednesday's attack on Madhesh Mukti Morcha workers in Gaur, Rautahat district, who reportedly fled to Indian territory.

At least 28 Maoist affiliated Madhesh Mukti Morcha workers were murdered and dozens other were injured by the supporters of Madheshi Peoples Rights Forum on Wednesday.

Nepal officials suspect the assailants fled to India after the murder.

''Indian security officers were ready to help capture the culprits'', Kantipur quoted Deputy Inspector General of Police Kiran Gautam as saying.

The officials of both the countries held a meeting at the district police office, Gaur, which was also attended by Suman Kumar, district majistrate of Sitamadhi district of India and MR Nayar, superintendent of police (SP) of India and Deputy Inspector General of Police Gautam and other senior officials of Nepal.

Meanwhile, in Dang, Nepal and Indian authorities agreed to work together to curtail violence and other irregularities along the Nepal-India border.

They agreed to discover, restore and monitor border pillars at Koilabas village in Dang district, Chief District Officer Rudra Prasad Paudel was quoted as saying. DIG SK Mathur of Saraswoti in India, among other Indian security officials also took part in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the agitating Madhesi People's Rights Forum's (MPRF) wing Nepal Madhesi Student's Front (NMSF) has announced its split from MPRF, saying its activities are in support of the King.

The front decided to sever ties with the forum stating that its activities were non-political and pro-royalist guided, Kantipur quoted front chairperson Keshav Kumar Jha as saying.

Mr Jha has accused Mr Yadav of sacking individuals with political character and replacing them with royalists in the MPRF's central committee, of engaging in games to protect the king in the name of religion and vandalising statues of litterateurs and democratic leaders under the palace's directions during the Madhesi movement.
