Hartal hits normal life in Kozhikode
Kozhikode, Mar 24: Normal life was affected here today following a hartal called by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the northern Kerala districts.
Educational institutions, shops and establishments remained closed in the hartal called in protest against the 'Police attrocities' on pro-BJP Bharatiya YUva Morcha activists in the city yesterday.
All the public transport, including the government-run KSRTC buses, remained off the road. Government and private offices reported thin attendance in the absence of public transport.
The hartal was peaceful, as no untoward incidents were reported from anywere in the district so far, police said.
As many as seven BJYM activists, including its state president K Surendran, were hospitalised after they sustained injuries in the alleged police lathicharge yesterday.
