Ex-Sarpanch shot dead by naxals

Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh), Mar 24: A former Sarpanch suspected to be a police informer was shot dead by naxalites at Gobra village under Vasantpur police station area in Sarguja district, police said today.

Police sources said Kavleshwar (35) was dragged out of his house and severely beaten up by a group of 30 naxalites who raided his house Thursday night. Later he was taken near a handpump and shot dead.

Kavleshwar's wife is Sarpanch at present, police added.
