ONGC invests Rs 5,000 crores in power projects

Agartala, Mar 23: ONGC will invest Rs 5,000 crore here during the next three years, Tripura project estate manager R K Maria said today.

Mr Maria said the amount would be invested in the state for setting up of a 740 mw gas-based power project at Palatana in South District here.

Tenders for setting up of the gas-based power project had been invited and a number of organisations had already shown their interest, he added.

Mr Maria said three wells would be drilled in different areas of the state for necessary gas for the proposed project at Palatana.

For the Palatana and Monarchak gas-based projects 60 lakh cubic metres of gas would be required daily. The present production of gas in the state wells was 45 lakh cubic metre gas.

For drilling the wells in the state during three years, Rs 2800 crore had been allocated, the estate manager informed.
