Information commission chief receives life threat
Aizawl, Mar 23: Mizoram Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Robert Hrangdawla has allegedly received a written death threat.
Security has been tightened both at his office and residence while police examins the letter that arrived here yesterday by post, said Aizawl Superintendent of Police.
Police said that the letter, written in Mizo language, was received at his office in the afternoon.
''If you do not resign from the post after being asked to do so, your life will suffer,'' the unsigned letter stated. The letter however claimed it was issued by a Mizo Students' Union (MSU) supporter.
The CIC had received a similar letter last month that warned him to ''go slow with his work'', police said.
MSU has been demanding CIC's resignation on allegations that he has inducted a few workers in the commission who have not come through the employment exchange and most of the new employees are related to the present staff.
Meanwhile, MSU president H Zothanpuia denied allegation of sending the death threat to CIC and condemned the incident, saying that the Union does not operate in this manner.
''Our members never do this, but it may be the act of our detractors to tarnish MSU's image,'' he added.
