Airtel launches floating outlet in Dal Lake

Srinagar, Mar 23: With an eye on the coming tourist season and to increase its customer base in Kashmir, Airtel, the country's leading telecom service provider, has launched a floating retail outlet in the world famous Dal Lake.

The Airtel 'Shikara' retail outlet would also cater to the needs of the inhabitants of the Dal Lake as they could now avail the facility right at the doorsteps of their houseboats.

An Airtel spokesperson said the launch was yet another first of the company and part of its efforts to provide innovative world class telecom services to the people of the valley.

The floating retail outlet has been equipped to offer all services such as issuance of new connections, recharge coupons and top-up facilities.

Besides, the spokesperson said it would also provide STD/PCO facilities to both the locals and the tourists.

''This Shikara STD/PCO is a boon for the tourists. This is the first STD/PCO of its kind in Kashmir, which will provide all such facilities to the customers while floating in the Dal Lake. The company is planning to introduce more such Shikara outlets in the near future,'' the spokesperson said.
