Two get 10 years RI in arms seizure case

Ahmedabad, Mar 22 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court today sentenced two persons to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for their involvement in the 2001 arms seizure case in North Gujarat.

Special CBI Judge R S Shukla found Yunus Khan and Abdul Suvan guilty and sentenced them to ten years rigorous imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000.

Acting on the basis of a specific information the CBI sleuths had captured a cache of arms and ammunition from a truck at Santhal village in Radhapur taluka of North Gujarat on October 26, 2001. The consignment, transhipped through the Rajasthan border, was meant for Maharashtra to boost the terrorist activities there.

Among the seized arms and ammunition were 14 kg of RDX, two AK-56 rifles, five pistols, four kg of plastic explosives, a radio set, loaded magazines, remote control devices, cordex wire, detonators and timers.
