Thomson adds new facility in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) Thomson Corporation, one of the world's leading information services companies, plans to expand operations here by setting up a new facility at the Hi-Tech City and will hire 1,000 employees by 2009.

The facility, which would be its second major centre in India with 700 seating capacity, would complement the company's growing operations in the country by providing integrated service delivery across industries and processes.

The expansion plans would support the company's overall vision and global growth plans to add jobs in many locations around the world over the next several years. It would further strengthen operations to meet increasing business demand and market trends.

With its current 100 employees at its centre in Hyderabad showing strong performance, the company planned to become the premier electronic workflow solutions provider to business and professional customers globally.

Speaking on the occasion, the Company's Executive Vice-President Robert D Daleo said as a global company with operations in 37 countries, the company was looking at its new Hyderabad facility to help develop critical next-generation technologies and products tailor-made for global markets.

The Hyderabad facility would serve as a major multi-functional shared service centre for Thomson and would support its global operations by providing knowledge-based services to its businesses across areas, including research, finance, accounting, technology and customer support.

Senior Vice-President (Finance) David Turner said the company expected its Hyderabad facility to help deliver, at an accelerated pace, the organisation's global commitments for products and services by leveraging the expertise of Indian software talent pool.
