SECL exceeds coal production target fixed for 2006-07 at 84.49 mt
New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) South Eastern Coalfields Limited- a subsidiary of the public sector company Coal India Limited (CIL) has surpassed the coal production fixed for the year 2006-07 at 83 million tonnes (mt) to 83.03 MT upto March 14, this year.
During the same period the company produced 78.54 MT of coal.
On March 20, 2007 SECL has already crossed a production of 84.94 MT.
The company's best coal mining block "Gevra Area" has also achieved a rare feat by producing one lakh tonnes of coal in a single day on March 18, 2007. This is highest ever coal produced by any mine or coal field in the country.
The company had earlier won the "Mini Ratna" status from the Government on fulfillment of eligibility and classification as laid down by the Department of public Enterprises, said a SECL statement issued here today.
