Bangalore, Mar 22 (UNI) Republican Party of India leader S Rajendran today sprang a surprise in the Legislative Assembly by displaying a wrist watch, containing the photograph of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, and took exception to its distribution to mark his birthday.

Raising the issue during question hour, Mr Rajendran alleged that the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation had distributed these watches to the people in his KGF constituency.

These watches neither contained the name of the manufacturer nor the date of manufacturing, he said, waving a watch worn by him.

Social Welfare Minister Balachandra Jharkiholi clarified that these watches were not distributed by the Corporation as alleged by the member. However, he agreed to a suggestion made by the Speaker to get the matter inquired into and inform the House.
