Major assures transparency in his tenure
Shillong, Mar 22 (UNI) Designated Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major today said his taking over the Air Chief's post from incumbent S P Tyagi would in no way make any difference to policy matters of the Indian Air Force.
Talking to reporters, Air Marshal Major said on the eve of his departure as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command that he would not be able to make policy on his own even though every Chief has his own style of functioning, He, however, assured to put an effort to ensure transparency and unambiguity in all matters, particularly relating to procurements.
Air Marshal Major, who commanded the first MI-17 Squadron, was the helicopter pilot to succeed the highest post of the IAF in the history of the country. He will take over the helm of affairs from outgoing Air Chief Air Marshall S P Tyagi on March 31.
When asked, the designated Chief of Air Staff dismissed all suggestions that the IAF's weaponry or aircraft measured badly in comparison to the installed capacity of neighbouring countries.
" We have what we need. In the IAF we have always been told to fight with what we have," he stated.
He said that the Indian Air Force today is fully grounded to undertake all tasks to meet the national goals of the country.
