Maharasthra govt unveils Rs 20,200 crore plan

Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today unveiled a Rs 20,200 crore annual plan for the year 2007-08.

During budget presentation in the State Assembly, Finance and Planning Minister Jayant Patil said the government will give special attention to improving infrastructure and social sectors, adding Rs 4,521 crore has been allocated for irrigation sector. He further said Rs 983 crore has been earmarked for water supply, Rs 599.78 crore for school education, Rs 1,282 crore for energy sector and Rs 685 crore for road development.

Mr Patil said the component of district plan has been increased by 20 per cent and Rs 1,080 crore has been provided for it.

The Minister projected a decline in fiscal deficit from 3.14 per cent in 2006-07 to 1.97 per cent in 2007-08.
