Bangalore, Mar 22 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today rejected the prayer for interim injunction of the disaffiliation of IMPACT, an educational institution imparting technical education, by the Visweswaraiah Technological University (VTU).

The petitioner challenged the VTU order, dated February three, 2007, disaffiliating its institution on account of lapses in infrastructural facilities and faculty as required under the AICTE regulations.

Rejecting the prayer for stay of the impugned order, Mr Justice Ramamohan Reddy observed that there could be no compromise in the standard of education and the prime consideration was the quality of education that needed to be imparted by the technical institutions.

If the petitioner institution did not measure up to the prescribed quality of AICTE, the watering down of quality or making marginal concessions for the purpose of an interim order could not be done.

It may be recalled here that the court had yesterday rejected the contention of Nadiger College of Engineering, Bijapur, SEEBAC and Shanti Charitable Trust, which have also been disaffiliated by the VTU on the same grounds, that the varsity had no power to reallocate its students to other colleges.
