Granthi punished for using mobile phone
Jaito, Mar 22 (UNI) A granthi (priest) has been awarded religious punishment by the Takht Damdama Saheb, Talwandi Sabo for chatting on a mobile during a religious ceremony.
The Panj Piaras, (a group of five priests) directed Granthi Gurmel Singh to recite 'nitnem', special daily prayers for a week in addition to his daily religious regime to atone for his lapse of talking on the cell phone in presence of the sacred Guru Granth Saheb while performing marriage of a couple in Daipai village near here.
The Takht Damdama Saheb, after ordering him to explain his conduct, instructed the Granthi to go through the religious penance and cautioned him to strictly adhere to the religious code while performing his duties in future.
