GAIL to set up coal gasification project in Orissa
New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) Gail India Ltd will set up a pilot coal gasification project at Talcher, Orissa at an investment of Rs 2,430 crore.
For this purpose, the company has appealed to the Union Coal ministry to provide a long term coal linkage.
It has proposed to implement the project based on shell technology, and has projected a coal feed of 5,200 tonnes per day and a dolomite feed of 546 tonnes per day, a statement said.
The company has already completed the detailed feasibility report.
Gail India has initiated the process to sign a memorandum of cooperation with Coal India Ltd (CIL) for jointly evaluating the project.
In addition, the company is in talks with the Rashtriya Chemicals&Fertilisers and Deepak Fertilisers regarding a customer tie-up for the use of synthesis gas.
The Talcher site has the capacity of 7.56 Million metric standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD) of synthesis gas.
