FD recovers illegal saw mill and timer

Agartala, Mar 22: Tripura forest department has unearthed a number of illegally set up saw mills and recovered timer worth Rs 3 lakh in West district this month.

According to official sources today, forest officials detected a saw mill set up illegally at Bankumari about six km from here and seized timber from the area yesterday for Rs 3 lakh.

None has been arrested in this connection.

For the past few months a number of saw mills were recovered from the Bankumar area and illegal mills have been functioning inside the jungle to avoid the forest department.
