Elangovan says Cong satisfied with DMK govt's performance
Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Union Minister E V K S Elangovan today said the party, which was extending outside support to the DMK government, was satisfied with the performance of the government.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Congress had no complaints against the performance of the DMK government, which was implmenting all its poll promises.
''As of now we don't find any fault with the DMK government'', he said, adding when the government takes anti-people measures, the Congress would certainly come out into the streets to protect the interest of the people.
Answering a question, Mr Elangovan said Congress would contest from Madurai West, which fell vacant following the AIADMK rebel Legislator C V Shanmugam. The seat was unsuccessfuly contested by the Congress in the May last assembly elections, he said.
Asked whether actor politician Vijayakanth would be a force to reckon with as Madurai West was the actor's native place, Mr Elangovan, Vijayakanth himself could win only from outside and not from Madurai.
Referring to agitations against the Congress led UPA government at the Centre for the rise in prices of essential commodities, Mr Elangovan conceded that there was a spurt in the prices in the recent past. But now the prices were coming down.
