Digital Interactive Museum in Puri and Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Mar 22 (UNI) The Orissa government has decided to set up two digital interactive museums-- one at Bhubaneswar and the other at Puri-- to provide the tourists the details of the cultural heritage of the temples and the Jagannath culture.

The decision to set up the digital interactive museums was taken at a high level meeting here yesterday chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Official sources said the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) had already proposed a Rs 50 crore package for development of the tourist places in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Chilka. The money would be invested for the development of infrastructure and creation of new tourist facilities.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik advised the INTACH, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, the State Tourism Department and the ITDC to work unitedly for conservation of the heritage sites in and around the temple city of Bhubaneswar.

He directed that battery operated vehicles should be used to keep all the important heritages free from pollution and stressed on the development of tourist facilities.

Sources said the meeting decided to illuminate at least 15 temples in Bhubaneswar and construct a ''parikrama'' around the Jagannath temple in Puri for better viewing of the temple.It was also decided to construct special vending zone at the beach in Puri and develop tourism infrastructure facilities at Satpada and special facilities to the tourists in Brahmapura inside the Chilka lake.
