Bus employees stage road blockade

Puducherry, Mar 22 (UNI) Private bus employees today staged a road blockade at Madagadippattu near here to protest the failure of the police to act on a complaint lodged by them.

They alleged that a few persons waylaid a private bus last week and assaulted the driver and conductor on charges that the bus was not stopped at a particular point. The bus crew said their's was not a town bus and that there was no need to stop there.

Though they had lodged a complaint with the Villianur police station immediately, police did not register a case, they alleged.

Police intervened and cautioned them of dire consequences if they continued with the road blockade and cause hardships to the students appearing for the SSLC examination today.

Following this they called off their agitation.
