BSF firing at Katakhali, boy injured
Basirhat, Mar 22 (UNI) An eight-year-old boy sustained bullet injuries from a BSF firing at Katakhali under Hingalgunge police station in North 24 Parganas.
According to police, BSF of Barunhat Border outpost, patrolling along the Indo-Bangla border opened fire to disperse some cattle smugglers when one of them shot hit the victim, who was reading in his house.
The smugglers, however, escaped unhurt, police said late last night.
The injured Biltu Gazi, son of one Khatik Gazi, was immediately sent to Taki Hospital.
Following the incident, aggrieved villagers thronged the nearby BSF outpost and demanded compensation and punishment of the erring BSF jawan. They also raised blockade on the Hasnabad- Hingalgunge road, police added.
