Bihar assembly continues to function sans opposition

Patna, Mar 22 (UNI) The Lower House in Bihar functioned without the opposition for the 10th day today following boycott of the assembly proceedings by the opposition, barring the Samjawadi Party.

The opposition is demanding withdrawal of a censure motion adopted in the House on March 12.

The deadlock between the treasury benches and opposition is continuing and the adamant opposition has refused to attend the budget session.

The Lower House had passed the censure motion against some opposition members, who had snapped microphone wires and damaged furniture to vent their anger over the 'failure' of government to nab the culprits responsible for 'blowing-up' the residence of RJD MLA Kunti Devi, with dynamite.

Meanwhile, the opposition has challenged the censure motion adopted in the Lower House against some members saying that it was in sheer violation of the laid rules of business of the House. The opposition stated that the the motion brought under rule 29 and 33 of the rules and business of the House was inapplicable.

Meanwhile, the opposition has sought time from Governor R S Gavai to apprise him about the situation.
